6.1 Purpose of Collection

The Wire Today collects your mobile telephone number exclusively for the purpose of sending you SMS text message alerts regarding breaking news events. Your telephone number will be used for no other purpose.

6.2 Explicit Prohibition on Sale, Sharing, and Marketing Use

The Wire Today makes the following binding commitments regarding your telephone number:

  • Your telephone number will NOT be sold to any third party, individual, corporation, or entity under any circumstances.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be shared with, disclosed to, licensed to, or transferred to any third party for any purpose.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be used for marketing, promotional, or advertising communications of any kind, whether by The Wire Today or any affiliated entity.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be used to contact you about products, services, offers, or any content unrelated to breaking news alerts you have explicitly opted into.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be provided to data brokers, aggregators, or any marketing list service.
  • No mobile information (including telephone numbers) will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

6.3 Opt-In Consent

You will only receive SMS Breaking News Alerts after providing express written consent at the time of enrollment. By enrolling, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from The Wire Today sent via short message service (SMS) to the mobile number you provide. Message frequency will vary based on breaking news events. Message and data rates may apply.

6.4 How to Opt Out

You may opt out of SMS Breaking News Alerts at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive. You may also opt out by texting STOP to our SMS number directly, or by visiting your account notification settings at app.thewire.today and disabling SMS alerts. Upon receipt of a valid STOP request, we will send a one-time confirmation message and your number will be permanently removed from our SMS distribution list within 24 hours. After opting out, you will not receive any further SMS messages unless you affirmatively re-enroll.

6.5 Help

For assistance with the SMS program, reply HELP to any message or contact us at [email protected]. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6.6 Supported Carriers

SMS Breaking News Alerts are available on all major U.S. wireless carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and others. Carrier support may vary.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

Telephone numbers collected for SMS Breaking News Alerts are categorically excluded from any data sharing arrangement.
