SMS Program

6. SMS Breaking News Alerts — Terms and Conditions

6.1 Program Description

The Wire Today offers an optional SMS Breaking News Alerts program ("SMS Program") that delivers text message notifications to subscribers regarding significant breaking news events. Participation in the SMS Program is entirely voluntary and is not required to use any other feature of the Service.

6.2 How to Enroll — Express Written Consent Required

To enroll in the SMS Program, you must affirmatively opt in by providing your mobile telephone number and checking a consent box or completing an enrollment form that clearly states you agree to receive SMS messages from The Wire Today. By enrolling, you expressly consent to receive recurring automated text messages (SMS) sent from The Wire Today to the mobile telephone number you provide. Your consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services, and is not required to use the Service.

6.3 Message Frequency and Content

Message frequency varies and is based on the occurrence of significant breaking news events. The Wire Today does not send scheduled promotional or marketing messages via SMS. All SMS communications from The Wire Today are limited strictly to breaking news alerts. You may receive multiple messages per day during periods of heightened news activity, or no messages on quiet news days.

6.4 Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. The Wire Today is not responsible for any charges incurred by your wireless carrier in connection with SMS messages. Please contact your wireless carrier for information regarding your messaging plan.

6.5 How to Opt Out (STOP)

You may opt out of the SMS Program at any time using any of the following methods:

  • Reply STOP to any SMS message you receive from The Wire Today
  • Text STOP directly to our SMS number
  • Log in to app.thewire.today, navigate to Account Settings → Notifications, and disable SMS alerts
  • Contact us at [email protected] and request removal

Upon receipt of a valid STOP request, we will send you a single final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out. No further SMS messages will be sent to your number unless you affirmatively re-enroll. Opt-out requests are processed within 24 hours.

6.6 How to Get Help (HELP)

For assistance with the SMS Program, reply HELP to any message or contact us at [email protected]. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6.7 Supported Carriers

The SMS Program is available on all major U.S. wireless carriers, including but not limited to AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, and regional carriers. Carrier availability and compatibility may vary.

Binding Commitment — Telephone Number Data Use

6.8 Explicit Prohibition on Commercial Use, Sale, and Third-Party Disclosure

The Wire Today makes the following absolute, unconditional, and legally binding commitments with respect to any telephone number you provide in connection with the SMS Program:

  • Your telephone number will NOT be sold, leased, licensed, assigned, or otherwise transferred to any third party, individual, corporation, partnership, government entity, or any other organization under any circumstances, including in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be shared with, disclosed to, or made accessible by any third party for any purpose whatsoever.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be used for any marketing, advertising, promotional, or commercial communications of any kind, by The Wire Today or any affiliated, subsidiary, or partner entity.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be used to solicit purchases, subscriptions, upgrades, or any products or services.
  • Your telephone number will NOT be provided to data brokers, lead aggregators, list vendors, market research firms, or any entity that monetizes consumer contact data.
  • No mobile information collected through the SMS Program — including telephone numbers, opt-in records, and message interaction data — will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This prohibition applies without exception.

The sole permitted use of your telephone number is delivery of SMS Breaking News Alerts as described in these Terms. Any use outside this scope is expressly prohibited.
